New Video Now Showing

by Bradley Voight on 05/13/12

Our first video is up. We will produce a series of short videos discussing ways to maximize your gain from recycling. I want to focus on how minimize your effort and cost. You do not want to spend ANY cash to do this or it really isn't worth it. That being said if you care at all about the Earth, then you have another motive to do this.

Aluminum for instance is very dirty to make and consumes tremendous amounts of power so every can you keep out of the landfill is one less that has to be made. Cans are the cornerstone of your metals collection because they are everywhere. When you toss in some copper and stainless and lead etc. you can walk out of the scrap yard with a sum that is worth your while. A funny thing happens when you start keeping cans, people throw them at you and if you are not willing to pick through trash cans, like I am, then that is a second way to accumulate cans. Put a bucket at your work labeled cans and watch it fill up. People hate cans but they love to give them to you!

When you start looking around you see that very few people are "going green" at all. When I look into a gas station trash can I see 5 plastic bottles for every 1 aluminum can. Since there is nowhere to get paid for plastic, then they go to the landfill. Plastics are petroleum based so it's kind of like dumping oil into landfills. If Smalltime recycling moves forward as planned, we will become the buyer of plastic bottles in the Indy area.

Small Time Recycling's Mission Statement

Our primary mission is to reclaim valuable recyclables from the waste stream and bring attention to the wastefulness of America. Currently we are recycling metals and e-waste. The Smalltime Blog is a non political commentary on metal, stock, currency and other markets. The Smalltime Blog is also where the hard lessons of a self taught investor are discussed.
